How a simple observation led to a mission to democratize education for every African student.
The Beginning
In 2023, we noticed a recurring problem across university campuses in Nigeria. Lecture halls were overcrowded, professors were stretched thin, and students were often left to fend for themselves. The traditional education system, whilst valuable, wasn't built to scale for the exploding student population.
We realized that to truly solve this, we couldn't just build another study app with quizzes. We needed something fundamental. We needed to multiply the lecturer.
"What if every student could have their own personal lecturer? One that knows their weaknesses, remembers their progress, and is available 24/7?"
Building LearnAI
We set out to build LearnAI with a core philosophy: personalization at scale. We didn't want a chatbot that just answers questions. We wanted an AI Lecturer that teaches. One that can explain complex chemical reactions to a pharmacy student, or constitutional law to a aspiring lawyer, all while adapting the explanation to their current level of understanding.
The Goal
To impact 15 million African students by 2030, giving them world-class personal tuition.

Where We Are Now
Today, Learn by Rightal is used by thousands of students across Nigeria. We've seen grades improve, confidence grow, and anxiety drop. But we're just getting started. Our vision is a world where quality education is not limited by classroom size or geography, but is as accessible as the smartphone in your pocket.
