ICAN Case Study: what the official timetable and syllabus confirm

Welcome to your preparation for the final stage of your qualification. Case Study is designated as paper C5 at the Professional Level of the ICAN examinations. This is the last ACA exam level. According to the official syllabus, you must finish the Skills level first before you can sit for Professional papers, unless you are admitted as a special candidate. Please note that the ten-diet rule includes this level, meaning you have a set number of diets to complete your exams. For more details on attempt rules, you can review our guide on resits. You can verify these placement rules directly in the Professional Examinations Syllabus 2025/2026.

The duration of the Case Study paper is longer than a standard exam. For the November 2026 diet, ICAN scheduled Case Study for exactly four hours. There is a specific note on the syllabus timetable grid: Case Study starts at 09:00 and ends at 13:00, while PSAF starts at 09:45 during the same morning window. Because dates and timings can change, please confirm the exact schedule for future diets on the live ICAN portal before booking your session, and check exam dates for updates. You can also review the general exam format for more context. The four hour duration is confirmed in the November 2026 professional timetable.
