Candidates should be able to define Database, give examples of packages (Dbase, Foxbase, MS Access, Oracle), define basic database terms (File, Record, Field, key, form, table), list and explain different types of database organization (Hierarchical, Network and Relational), and list application areas (Office, Home, Education, Government, Hospital, Agriculture). They should explain different features of the database format in MS Access (Files as tables, rows/columns, related record information per row, specific field information per column), carry out steps to create a database (define structure, indicate field type, enter/save data), perform basic operations on existing databases (searching, modifying, sorting, reporting, selecting, inserting), and close the MS Access database.
