Candidates should be able to define Registers, Bus, and Address. They should explain the functions of registers such as MDR (Memory Data Register), MAR (Memory Address Register), MBR (Memory Base Register), AC (Accumulator), PC (Program Counter), and CIR (Current Instruction Register). They should also explain the differences between registers and main memory, state the major steps involved in how a computer converts data to required information (Input - Process – Output), and enumerate factors affecting the speed of data transfer (bus speed and bus width).
