It is important for all students to learn how to identify potential hazards and how to use the equipment provided for protection. The proper use of the equipment and the general knowledge of first aid should be of paramount importance to all the students. It is important to keep accurate records of all occurrences of accident in the work shop and that the students are not allowed to handle power equipment without supervision. Film shows on safety and charts on safety procedures will aid the students in the learning process.

Wood Work Hand Tools

This module introduces various woodworking hand tools, their classification, and correct usage. You will also learn about the essential maintenance practices to keep your tools sharp and in good condition for precise timber preparation. It is important that all students learn how to identify the names and classification of all woodworking hand tools used in the trade of carpentry and joinery and the correct usage and methods of maintaining them. The students should be given opportunity to sharpen their tools and to maintain them by the correct method of cleaning, lubricating and storing. Students should be taught how to prepare timber to sizes using all these tools with safety precautions.
