Topics with a public outline
Paper 1
A multiple-choice objective test lasting 1 hour and carrying 60 marks. It has three sections: A (Language), B (Literature), and C (Culture). Total 60 items in Paper 1 Objective test. Section B Literature has 22 items, Section C Culture has 8 items and Section A has 30 items.
Oral Literature
Consists of prose, poetry, and drama. There will be 3 set books covering these genres. One question will be set from each book, and candidates answer any one.
Composition/Letter Writing
Candidates write an essay of about 300 words. Topics include Narrative, Descriptive, Argumentative, Expository, Dialogue, Proverbial, and Letter Writing. Not more than 45 minutes should be spent on this question.

Tarbiyya (Upbringing/Discipline)
Hanyoyin tarbiyya, Girmama iyaye, Girmama na gaba, Girmama tsara, Da'a ga hukuma.
