This module explores the differences between standard doors and gates, covering design and construction of various gates suitable for private and public premises. You will also learn about conventional sizes, designs, and construction of wooden garage doors, along with suitable ironmongery and finishing. Students will learn to explain the difference between a standard door and a gate, sketch designs of typical gates, produce them, state conventional sizes for garage doors, sketch designs of wooden garage doors, construct a half-glazed garage door, and finish doors for painting and hanging.
