What NMCN officially says about the exam format
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria regulates professional qualifying examinations for nurses and midwives. Its published Examination Division information groups this work into Nursing, Midwifery and Post-Basic sections.
NMCN's public pages do not provide a complete, current candidate handbook for every examination category. They do, however, identify several parts of the assessment process:
- the Council maintains a question bank for its examinations;
- examination answer sheets and scripts go through central marking;
- NMCN appoints script markers and oral or practical examiners; and
- the Council evaluates theoretical knowledge and practical exposure in relation to approved nursing and midwifery curricula.
These are the assessment elements NMCN itself mentions on its undated Examination Division and Education Department pages. They should not be read as a complete format specification for your particular programme or sitting.
Does NMCN publish the number of questions or exam duration?
We did not find a current first-party NMCN source that states:
- how many questions a candidate will answer;
- how long each examination or component lasts;
- how many papers apply to each programme;
- the current delivery method;
- the marks assigned to each component; or
- the pass mark.
This means Learn does not label any question count, duration, pass mark or delivery method as official. Information shared by a school or previous candidate may describe a particular sitting, but it should be checked against current instructions from NMCN and your training institution.
